Rob Grenzeback climbing down the Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s pier ladder to conduct the first tests of the Dye Ski!

The Dye Ski being hoisted down to the water to meet Rob is a jet ski that is configured to measure the dye concentration, turbidity, and temperature of the water! During our experiments, it will run transects from the surfzone offshore over the inner-shelf to map dye concentrations and water properties. Its measurements will also be used to calibrate the aerial measurements from a plane. The team is working hard to get this instrument as well as the many others ready for the upcoming experiment!
